Rounded lockplate, tail inscribed "Dublin Castle" with a large engraved crown over "GR" in the center as well as a stamped British ordnance mark below the pan. Brass furniture. Full length stock with four "X"s carved on the right side of the buttstock and a relief beaver tail around the barrel tang; there is no wrist escutcheon. Complete with a replaced iron ramrod. Also included is a 40th regiment marked, triangular British socket bayonet, inscribed on the socket "40". Complete with its original leather scabbard, with a brass stud as well as a leather frog. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark pitted surface. Lock functions well in its original flintlock configuration. Lock markings possibly refreshed or added. Brass retains a dark unpolished patina. Stock shows scattered marks from use. Both sling swivels are absent. Bayonet retains a dark heavy brown patina with some corrosion on blade and some losses at tip. Scabbard is very good, with a small portion missing at the tip. Retaining an original surface with some crazing. A very nice Revolutionary War period musket and bayonet. DMG
