Manufactured by the Burnside Rifle Company, the Model of 1864, also known as the 5th Model Burnside. Serial number 10153 with 21" round barrel marked "CAST STEEL" on top and vividly case colored receiver marked "BURNSIDE PATENT MODEL OF 1864" on top. Two piece oil finished walnut stocks with case colored barrel and and buttplate. US martially inspected strongly on left wrist. Sub-inspectors markings found on mast small parts. Matching serial numbers and assembly numbers found on receiver, breech assembly and removable locking gas block. Fitted with carbine sling bar and ring. CONDITION: Very fine with very vivid case colors on frame, faded colors on lock, barrel band, and buttplate. Breech assembly retains virtually all of its bright nitre blue finish. Barrel has most all of its rust blue finish and balance starting to patina. Bore is brilliantly bright with crisp rifling. Breech and chamber are as new. Wood stocks are excellent with crisp markings and no distress. Really a great 5th model Burnside Carbine. TDW
