Manufactured by Mauser during the first year of World War II. This example is marked "1939" over the chamber, with Mauser waffenamt over "63" proofs on the right side and the Mauser "S/42" code on the toggle. Matching numbers include the frame, barrel, receiver, trigger, trigger sideplate, locking bolt, breechblock, firing pin, forward and rear toggle links, safety bar, extractor, receiver axle, hold open latch, and checkered walnut grips. Magazine does not match. Complete with holster, stripping tool, and an additional unmarked magazine. CONDITION: Metal components retain vast majority of salt blue finish with small areas of wear and thinning. Bright bore with strong and well defined lands and grooves. Checkered wood grips are fine, showing minimal wear and smoothing to checkering aside from a small area at the top of the right grip panel. Magazine retains traces of original bluing, with the other showing cleaned areas of rust and corrosion. Holster is good, showing wear and age cracking, with areas of flaking. Overall, an exceptional example of a Mauser manufactured P.08 made during the opening year of World War II. MW
