Manufactured by Erfurt in the last year of World War I. Receiver is marked "1918" over the chamber, crown over "Erfurt" on the toggle, and Erfurt proof marks on the right side. German Reichsadler present on receiver, barrel, and toggle. Interestingly, the inspection proofs on the receiver, barrel, forward toggle, and trigger guard retain a crown over "RC" stamp above them, indicating that the pistol had failed its initial inspection at the arsenal and was sent to the Revisions Commission for appraisal. Matching numbers include the frame, barrel, receiver, locking bolt, trigger sideplate, trigger, hold-open latch, safety bar, breechblock, firing pin, extractor, forward and rear toggle links, and checkered walnut grips. Complete with leather holster and additional magazine. Magazines are unnumbered. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of arsenal applied blue finish, showing areas of wear and thinning all around, with areas of patina showing through the finish. Strawed components retain minute areas of finish. Bore retains well defined lands and grooves throughout. Walnut grips show some smoothing to checkering and few indentations. Holster is in good condition, showing some minor age cracking. Stripping tool compartment is partially torn. Manufacturer's markings are indiscernible, as they have been mostly worn away. Overall, an interesting "RC" stamped, 1918 dated Erfurt P08 pistol that was manufactured in the closing year of World War I. MW
