The Knockabout guns were made as a high quality boxlock, mostly for the American market, and many were distributed by large gun retailers such as Von Lengerke and Detmold, and Abercrombie and Fitch. This example sold through Von Lengerke & Detmold as marked on left barrel tube top. Barrels have matted game rib with white mid bead and white/brass front bead. Made with Greener crossbolt locking mechanism. Splinter forend checkered in point pattern with Deeley release and horn triangular shaped tip. Boxlock action is lightly engraved. Round knob pistol grip butt checkered in point pattern through the wrist and terminates with modern Silvers type pad. Made with double triggers, extractors, and auto-safety. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain about 85% original blued finish. Action retains 20% original case color. Stocks are sound and retain most of an older restored finish. Pad is a new replacement. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are in need of attention as action shows looseness when fully assembled. JSL
