With a total production of 1,000-1,500 between 1857 and 1864, this is one of the few made in .40 caliber with a six shot cylinder. Full length 24" barrel. Large scroll style trigger guard. Small wood forend. Two line Hartford address on top of the frame. Checkered wrist. Serial number visible on buttplate, worn on frame. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall with areas of surface rust and pitting. Markings on top strap are clear. Several parts have been restored including the trigger plate assembly. The trigger guard itself appears original. Action parts replaced. There is a repair to the upper tang at the rear screw hole. Missing rear barrel wedge. Wood shows wear with discoloration and flaking to varnish on stock, small crack in right side of forend and on left side of forend. Bore has strong rifling. Good mechanical function although mainspring is weak. GR
