Very similar to the standard Confederate States Armory, Kenansville NC cavalry saber with a couple small differences. There is no Roman numeral on the guard anywhere, and the front of the guard is more rounded. Brass guard is very thick. Missing the scabbard. Single strand iron wire wrapped grip over oilcloth. Very distinct plain pommel. Blade has several manufacturing flaws. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall, in as-found condition. Has some light surface rust with an area towards the tip of the blade on the right side that is more severe. Handle and wrap are in fine, complete untouched condition. Hilt is tight. There is a bend to the outer branch of the guard. A couple minor nicks in the edge of the blade. GR
