This fine Bucks County, Pennsylvania fowler has a two stage smoothbore barrel with an applied silver front sight and a notched iron rear sight. Flat lockplate with molding at tail and beveled edges. Curled Bucks County trigger. The brass furniture includes buttplate terminating in a point, trigger guard with a large acorn finial, and Bucks County sideplate with beveled edges. Open ended nose cap and faceted ramrod ferrules. Full length figured maple stock of classic Bucks County form with incised, stylized Fleur-de-Lis around ramrod entry ferrule as well as lock and sideplate cavities. There is a relief design with incised details carved around the barrel tang. This particular carving is associated with gunsmith George Weiker. CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown patina and appears to have about 15" professionally replaced. Lock is reconverted and does not function properly. Brass is unpolished and shows a dark, mustard patina. Ramrod is a replacement. Stock shows heavy wear with some scattered marks from use. Approximately 13 - 1/2" of forend professionally replaced including nosecap and one ramrod ferrule. A minor sliver below lockplate and between lockplate and barrel tang also replaced. A nice Bucks County fowler with very attractive form. DMG
