Manufactured in 1945. The only known "D" series Inglis High Power to exist. Well documented and featured on page 109 of the book "INGLIS DIAMOND - THE CANADIAN HIGH POWER PISTOL" by Clive Law. This near pristine example has the early Inglis slide markings on left side of slide. "BROWNING-FN 9MM H.P. INGLIS CANADA"right side of pistol is numbered "D1" and is found on slide, barrel and frame. Black synthetic checkered grips and finished in traditional black phosphate. Drift adjustable barley corn front sight with tangent rear sight. Grip frame is NOT slotted for stock. interestingly no proof markings are found internally nor externally. According to documented history found in Law's book this pistol was registered in 1945 to Mr. Harold Waterhouse Head of Wartime security at the Inglis factory. Accordingly this is the only known "D" series pistol ever produced by John Inglis and was possibly never intended for use outside of the factory and intended for security use. According to the consignor, this pistol was acquired directly from the son of Harold Waterhouse 40 years ago. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with most all factory finish remaining. Grips are excellent with no material loss or distress. Action operates properly and crisply. Bore is bright, shiny and has sharp lands and grooves. Proper Inglis marked magazine is equally fine. Truly a unique and well documented one of a kind pistol. TDW
