Serial numbers 206 and 601. A pair out of approximately 700 3rd Model Dragoons that were assembled and finished in London during 1853. Blue with case hardened frames, loading levers, and hammers. Silver plated brass back straps and trigger guards. 7-1/2" barrels marked one line "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-" . 44 caliber percussion. One-piece varnished walnut grips. British proof marks located on barrel lugs, and rear of cylinders, at each nipple. Both revolvers have matching serial numbers; 206 and 601, located on the barrels, frames, trigger guards, backstraps, loading levers, cylinders, and barrel wedges. Housed in a deluxe English oak partition style case with brass edge protectors, sliding brass latches, and fold down brass ring/handle on lid. Green baize interior with label titled "DIRECTIONS FOR LOADING COLT'S PISTOLS" Accessories include a two cavity, brass .44 caliber bullet mold, marked "Colt's Patent". and an English style powder flask marked "JAMES DIXON & SON'S SHEFFIELD". A reproduction L-shaped combination screwdriver / nipple wrench, a pewter oil bottle, and a tin of Eley percussion caps. CONDITION: Revolver 601 is very fine overall showing a blue/brown patina overall with traces of original blue. Faint cylinder scene. Approximately 70% original silver plating on trigger guard and backstrap. Action is tight and crisp.Bore is dark. Grips are excellent with added finish, showing moderate wear. Revolver 206 is excellent showing approximately 50% bright original blue on the barrel. Traces of fading case colors on frame, lever, and hammer. Approximately 30% original silver plating on trigger guard and backstrap. Strong cylinder scene and strong "MODEL U.S.M.R. COLT'S PATENT" marking. Added finish to grips showing moderate wear. Bore is excellent and bright. Action is tight and crisp. Case is very good showing moderate wear with scattered dings and scratches. Interior is sound however, soiled showing fairly heavy wear. Accessories are good showing fairly heavy use. Overall an appealing classic London double casing. -MKS-
