The 34-1/2", near straight blade would have fit into either a metal or wooden scabbard. Both types were utilized by this rare maker. This sword has beautiful untouched patina to the brass hilt and pommel, the leather grip is near perfect with its original twisted, brass wire. The protective washer, with its red felt background, are rarely seen and still present on this sword. CONDITION: Blade has a pleasing patina to it with some very minor areas of light pitting. Several small bends are seen in hilt branches. A brown, mustard colored patina present on brass surfaces. Leather grip is complete and intact with numerous scuffs and wear at high areas. Twisted brass wire wrap is complete and tight. Protective leather washer and red felt background are intact. Surface of washer is scuffed, with several small reductions. This sword is accompanied by a reproduction leather scabbard with brass mounts that have been added since the Morphy/Julia auction in October of 2010 when this sword was originally sold. GR
