One of the most recognizable of the "space age" weapons, the Gyrojet pistol was an attempt to be the next step in small arms technology, using a miniature rocket instead of a lead ball as a projectile. This example has composite pearlite grips and nickel finish. Right side of frame marked "PATENT PENDING", left side with Gyrojet and model information. Cased in Gyrojet walnut case with cleaning rod and screwdriver and plaque celebrating Robert Goddard, one of the fathers of rocketry, surrounded by ten 13mm rounds. MBA plaque on lid. Also accompanying this lot is an exceedingly rare box of ammo, originally holding 24 rounds and reduced now to 16. CONDITION: Very good. Some scattered handling and operation marks, and some freckling of nickel. Some black oxide also present, mostly visible in protected areas. Follower mechanism needs adjustment, as it currently props up too high and would not not seat the round correctly. Bore is fine. Case is fine as relined, wood and plaque with some age related staining, rounds in case with some oxidation near primers. Box of ammo is very good, complete, with some age related staining and distress but appear fine with some light stains. Also accompanying this lot are an owners manual and certificate of authenticity identifying this gun by serial number as one of the first 1000 produced. EW
