Lebeau Courally is recognized by fine gun aficionados to be among the highest order of gunmakers. This exquisite example of the gunmakers art is near perfection with its fine demi-bloc 28" barrels with raised solid matted rib. Left side of top barrel is engraved "AUG. LEBEAU COURALLY A LIEGE. BELGIUM". Right side is engraved "MADE FOR W. L. MOORE & CO SCOTTSDALE A.Z." Barrel flat is stamped with makers name and address and bottom.
Coin finished over under action is of Lebeau Courally's "Boss" type utilizing the basic principles of the renown "Boss" OU action with some minor modifications and improvements. This gun features non-automatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold), gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front articulated) with finger blades temper blued. Top lever is pierced and fully engraved. Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage truly exceptional scroll and floral patterns with some interlocking scroll borders. Makers name is engraved in flowing ribbon on bottom of action. Lebeau Courally logo is on breechface. Engraving theme continues onto rolled edge trigger guard, which has serial number in ribbon on tang, and gold initials "RJB" on bow. This wonderful engraving is by Janssen and his signature is on trigger plate. Exhibition quality, beautifully marbled, and finely stump figured dark European walnut straight grip buttstock terminates with checkered wood butt, and features finely carved drop points and flowing wave pattern through the wrist which is diamond shaped. Checkering on butt and grip is top notch, borderless, in classic outline within ogee scalloped borders. Matching three piece ejector forend has Anson release and inlet Lebeau Courally crest in gold on uncheckered panel. The three piece forend is deemed by the French and Belgians to be of the highest quality. Housed in a brown leather trunk case with maker's trade label, and green felt interior. CONDITION: Extremely fine as likely factory test fired only. Gun appears near mint overall with only the most minute of handling marks. Bores are brilliant and shiny, mechanics are crisp. Case is excellent with minor rubs. These are extraordinary firearms. JSL
