Colt's London factory built approximately 42,000 Model 1851 Navies from 1853 to 1856 using Hartford provided parts. This revolver serial number 1489 is an early production gun, being built in 1853. Blue with case color frame, loading lever, and hammer. Varnished one piece walnut grips. Colt London barrel address. British proof marks on barrel lug, and cylinder. Housed in a partition style case complete with correct accessories including an English style powder flask, percussion cap tin, blue steel bullet mold, nipple wrench, oil bottle, cleaning rod, and correct key. CONDITION: Case has period repair to lid incorporating, additional screws. Revolver has matching serial numbers on loading lever, barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. Replacement wedge. Nice unmolested screws. Approximately 75+% original blue on barrel, most original silver on trigger guard and backstrap, balance a pleasing gun metal grey patina. MKS
