Factory engraved in classic Gustave Young No. 2 pattern featuring floral and foliate arabesque coverage on barrel, loading lever, frame, hammer (wolf head), backstrap, trigger guard, wedge, and major screws. Select burl grain one piece walnut grips with "piano" finish. 7 - 1/2" barrel marked "Address Sam Colt New York City" 3rd Model with large silver plated iron trigger guard. Rare sling provision mounted at front. Large dovetailed front sight. Backstrap is slotted for the rare 1st type shoulder stock. Previously in several well known Colt collections with strong provenance. This revolver formerly in Bobby Smith and Pete Holder collection. Identified as being one of only five known cut for the 1st Type Stock. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Matching serial numbers on loading lever, barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, and wedge. Showing 60-70% original high polish blue on barrel. Strong traces of original silver remaining on trigger guard and backstrap, balance is a pleasing gun metal gray patina. Grips are superb showing little wear. Overall a very desirable and attractive factory engraved 1851 Colt Navy with rare features -MKS-
