Serial number 176743, manufactured in 1860. Matching serial numbers on all major components including wedge and loading lever. 4" barrel with two line "ADDRESS SAM'L COLT / HARTFORD CT." Dovetail blade front sight. Left side of frame marked "COLTS PATENT". Engraved in early Gustave Young style featuring scrolls with punch dot background. Stylized bird head on left barrel lug. Wolf head motif on hammer. Scroll engraving on barrel, loading lever, frame, hammer, trigger guard, and backstrap. Wedge is engraved. Flower motifs on right barrel lug and both sides of frame. One piece ivory grips. Housed in a walnut case fitted in the partition style with brass bullet mold and percussion cap tin. CONDITION: Good overall with no visible original finishes. Entire revolver is cleaned to a gun metal grey. Replaced screws. Trigger guard and backstrap are a medium mustard patina. Ivory grips have a lovely honey color patina and show minimum shrinkage to backstrap. Case shows heavy use with split joints on body and lid. Burgundy color interior is faded with signs of heavy use. Missing lid to upper right compartment. -MKS-
