Serial number 67299 manufactured in 1853. Matching numbers on all major components including wedge and loading lever. Desirable 6" barrel with two-line address marked "SAML COLT / NEW-YORK CITY". Blue with casehardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. Silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap. Trigger guard marked on left side with letters "U" and "G". Frame marked "COLTS PATENT". One piece varnished walnut grips. Walnut case fitted in partition style with burgundy interior. Correct "COLTS PATENT" bullet mold, eagle powder flask, packet of six combustible cartridges, and Eley Bros percussion cap tin. CONDITION: Excellent overall with 90-95% original blue on barrel. 85-90% original blue on cylinder with strong stagecoach holdup scene. Traces of case color on loading lever, frame, and hammer turning a dove grey patina. Strong bright blue on trigger. Most all original silver plating on trigger guard and backstrap turning a pleasing dark patina. Excellent grips with most original varnish showing modest use. Case exterior is excellent showing light wear. Interior is bright showing light wear. Bullet mold shows light use with most original blue remaining. Nice patina on powder flask with a couple small dents. Overall a very fine, high condition, early production Model 1849 with desirable barrel length. -MKS-
