Left side of slide is stamped "ITHACA GUN CO INC ITHACA NEW YORK". Left side of frame is stamped "FJA" for Frank Atwood with "P" near magazine release. Stamped with a "P" on top of slide. Right side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 US ARMY". There is a "2" on trigger guard. Blued barrel has a "P" stamped on both sides of lug. Rear sight is beveled edge with square notch, serrated hammer with no spur, serrated slide stop and safety, short fully checkered trigger, serrated arched mainspring housing with loop, and Keyes stamped brown composite grips with outer reinforcing rings. Blued pinned base magazine with no stamp on lip. CONDITION: Gun retains approximately 90% of the arsenal applied phosphate finish. Stampings are sharp. Fine action. Bore has sharp, well defined rifling. Ithaca manufactured pistols from 1943 to 1945 beginning at serial number 856405 and ending at 2693613; this is a mid-production example. DB
