Made in 1938 on a "00" Frame with 26" Special Steel barrels that have matted rib with steel front bead and usual "Parker Bros. Meriden" barrel legend. Barrel flats marked with choke markings "MOD/FULL" and unstruck barrel weight of 2 lbs 12 oz. Made with splinter forend, double triggers, auto ejectors, and auto safety. Case hardened action is engraved in typical late GHE Grade pattern with quail on right, geese on left surrounded by light scroll. Bottom of frame marked "PARKER" at front with pheasants in circle on trigger plate surrounded by light scroll. Capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in three point pattern through the wrist, with small nickel shield engraved at toe "F.C.G / III". The stock terminates with the original dog's head buttplate. Stock is fine flame grained American walnut. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 90% plus original blued finish with proper Remington weep hole in bottom rib. Action retains about 50-60% original case colors, somewhat muted on left side and bottom, but vibrant on right and on trigger plate. Trigger guard bow with beautiful original blue on bow, toned on tang. Stocks retain about 90% original finish with some finish added for preservation around trigger guard tang, and left stock cheek which shows an incipient grain separation which should remedy very easily as well as a tiny grain chip behind the top tang. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. A rare gun worthy of both the field and the gun room. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. PGCA Letter. JSL
