Made in 1925, this little gem is a reference gun for overall quality and condition. Made with 28" barrels that have matted top rib with small brass front bead. Tops of barrels marked "L.C. Smith Specialty Grade" / "Hunter Arms Co. M'F'R'S FULTON, NY U.S.A." Barrel flats with serial number and original proof marks. Splinter forend is checkered in point pattern with engraved banjo type roll release and triangular ebony tip. Made with Hunter One single selective trigger, auto ejectors, and non-auto safety. Case hardened action is engraved in typical Specialty Grade pattern with flying goose on right, quail on left, surrounded by well executed open scroll. Capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist and terminates with its original lined hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Extremely fine and collector quality. Barrels retain about 95% original blue with a few light handling marks ahead of the forend on the bottom side of the barrels. Action retains virtually all of its bold original case color, which is deep and vivid with great fire. Stocks are sound and excellent with only a couple of minor handling and an impression in the left side of the checkering and retain virtually all of their original finish. Forend release and trigger guard both retain virtually all of their original blue. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. This easily a "benchmark" Smith suitable for the most discerning buyer/investor. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. JSL
CORRECTION: Box does not come with this lot. There is a minute grain separation on left side of forend coming off of iron.
