Manufactured of Gutta Percha. Slide operated single shot design with exposed "BULLS EYE" trigger. Nickel silver finial ring at top of cane shaft with removable steel end cap with serial number 25 at tip. Remington is, of course, the most famous maker of American cane guns and these were used extensively during the later 1800's for protection against highway men and dogs alike. Chambered for the .32 Rimfire cartridge with a short section of rifled bore and the rest is a large diameter smooth bore shaft. Produced of fragile gutta percha the survival rate is quite rare and most are found in terrible disrepair. CONDITION. Good with typical period creaking of gutta percha at top of cocking mechanism. The hook type handle is loose and easily removed. The bore is excellent and the action appears to operate properly. No makers markings are found and was possibly made for a period retailer who requested no such markings. TDW
