Unknown date of manufacture. Unique design with a rolling block action similar to the Remington Split breech mechanism. Chambered for .43 Spanish. Unique system has a separate operation lever that open the breech, and acts as a safety when left in its central position. No serial numbers or proofs are found anywhere on the rifle. Two piece walnut stocks with forend retained by two steel bands and a typical wiping rod. Butt is has a traditional military pattern musket steel butt plate. Equipped with 1-1/4" sling swivels. Much research has revealed that this is a previously unseen example and little is known of its history. CONDITION: Good with excellent rifled bore and crisp mechanics. Wood stocks are fine with small bruises and abrasions from storage. A light even coating of period corrosion is present on its exterior. TDW
