With a total production of only 143 guns made in 1875, this is one of the rarest of Springfield armory rifles made. Unique Martini type falling block action, which opens when the hammer is pushed forward. Well marked on the tang "US" and then "PAT. MAR 16.1875". "ESA" cartouche on left side of stock, circle P proof behind trigger guard. 1873 trapdoor style cleaning rod. Serial number is marked internally on the gun, in this case, number 115. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall with areas of light rust and pitting and approximately 30% original finish, most of which is on the receiver. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Wood is very good with some dings and handling marks. Fine mechanical function. GR
