American. 1936-1939. All- composition (several light craze lines on face) doll designed by Dewees Cochran, fully marked Effanbee American Children on back of head. Feathered eyebrows, clear brown sleeping eyes with real upper eyelashes, closed mouth (lips touched up), original blonde human hair wig (sparse in back), perfect individual fingers. All original outfit: maroon shantung dress and matching panties, with black checked wool coat with maroon trim, matching hat. Accompanied by an extensive dressmaker wardrobe believed to have been contents of a Marshall Field & Co., Chicago, trunk set, including flowered cotton dress, pink silk nightgown, pink silk robe, blue taffeta robe, yellow organdy dress and panties, red plaid dress and jumper, blue organdy dress, red cotton dress with flowers in stripes, red knit sweater and hat, red print pants, green felt snow suit and hat, cotton knit sweater, socks and mittens, red leather gloves, 2 pairs of shoes, socks, and Effanbee metal heart bracelet (in gloves envelope).
