This gun was made under contract for the state of New Jersey and is so marked with "NJ" on the left side of the barrel and stock flat opposite the lock. No Federal inspectors markings. Matching 1863 dates on the barrel and lock. Deeply struck clear eagle on the lock. CONDITION: Fine with a light coat of dried grease. All markings are sharp and clear. Wood is fine with raised grain and a clear state acceptance stamp. Minor crack at the front of the lock cavity. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. GR
