Springfield manufactured Model 1816 pattern flintlock musket with brass panned flint lock marked with "US / (eagle) / Springfield" and dated 1824. Smoothbore barrel with bayonet lug. Walnut stock with iron hardware. Illegible proofmark at base of tang in wood. Original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Gun has been heavily cleaned with metal having an in-the-white finish. Stock has been sanded and has damage to the butt that looks like water damage. Bore is dark and lightly pitted. Good mechanics. DLM
