Peacock is recorded as working in London circa 1820-1830 at Duke Street. Octagonal case colored barrels with very light border engraving at muzzle. Diminutive front sights, rear sight integral with frame. Swivel ramrods with dual heads. Dolphin form hammers. Platinum blowout plugs. Engraved frames and trigger guards with scrolls and light florals; barrels lightly engraved at breech, with flats at 12 and 9 o'clock. English push on safeties. Checkered walnut bag grips with vacant silver thumbpieces. Accompanied by what appears to be their original case with a Lang's Gun and Pistol Repository paper label in lid. Lined in green felt with accessories comprising a Dixon and Sons powder flask, bullet mold with sprue cutter, and ramrod with threaded tip for different attachments. CONDITION: Fine, retaining the vast majority of their finish; both pistols have scattered pitting on the frame with Pistol (B) having more on the left side of frame and pistol (A) having more towards top of frame. Pistol (A) has lost color on most of the 5 o'clock barrel flat, which also has pitting toward muzzle. Pistol (B) has lost color in the same area but is devoid of any pitting. Pistol (B) has had its hammer replaced and broken at the cock and epoxied back together. Grips are attractive and full sized with some scattered handling marks. Bullet mold is essentially gunmetal grey with scattered oxidation. Ramrod is very good with scattered marks from handling and use. Powder flask has considerable rubbing to its copper finish but still has plenty of fire bluing on spring. An attractive pair of muff pistols with much condition. EW
