Model 1889, serial number 29988 manufactured in 1889. 24" full octagon barrel with full length magazine tube. Barrel marked in two lines " -MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A.-/PATENTED OCT. 11,1887. APRIL. 2. 1889." Top of frame marked "MARLIN SAFETY". Plain trigger. "Rocky Mountain" front and rear barrel sights. Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Rifle style crescent steel buttplate. Blue with case hardened lever, hammer, and buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent plus. Barrel and magazine tube retains 98+% bright original blue. Frame retains 95+% bright high polish blue, with the bolt retaining approximately 40% original blue. Slight traces of case color on the lever, hammer, and buttplate, blending with a brown/grey patina. Bore is excellent and bright. Wood is near mint showing minimum wear. Overall a high condition first year of production Model 1889. -MKS-
