c. 1880. This is a classic Western piece with its original tack decorated haft with small horse head on each side of the haft using small tacks. The steel head measures about 9" in length, including the bowl. The cutting edge measures about 4-1/8" and is slightly curved. The eye is diamond shaped and the bowl measures about 2-1/8" and has 3 relief rings. The haft measures 24" in length and is decoration with a tacked horse head decoration on both sides. There are a total of 83 brass tacks and the gasket is original. CONDITION: Very good overall. The head retains an undisturbed, natural brown patina. The haft shows some light wear and is completely untouched. All tacks appear to be original and retain a dark mustard patina. All tacks show proper age and darkening on the wood surrounding them. A very good Plains Indian tomahawk. Authentic specimens of this quality are rarely encountered. DMG

Item Dimensions: 25" x 9" x 2".
