Manufactured 1934. Produced by Mauser and S/42 Coded. Blue finish with 4" barrel, usual dovetail front sight, and fixed rear sight. It has a “K” over chamber area with “S/42” on toggle link and an “S” on most of miscellaneous parts. Right side of receiver properly Mauser military proofed. Fitted with full checkered, matching numbered walnut grips, and an aluminum base magazine numbered “4048a”. This was the first model of the coded date & manufacturer Lugers produced by Germany in an effort to disguise their rearmament. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching including grips, except magazine as noted. Barrel, receiver, breech block, and toggle system retain about 90% strong original blue with light edge wear and a few scattered chemical spots. Frame retains 60-70% strong original blue with front & back straps a blue/gray patina. Various parts retain about 60-70% original straw colors. Grips show moderate wear with a few chipped diamonds and some dark oil staining. Magazine is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp, bore is worn but good with slight frosting in lands. TDW
