Proofed in 1980, this beautiful little Venere Extra side lock ejector 28 gauge gun was made right about the time when M. Abbiatico and R. Salvinelli set out to build some of the worlds finest shotguns. This gun represents a nice combination of skilled craftsmanship and exquisite engraving. Barrels are 26 - 1/2" and chopper lump, fitted with a narrow raised matted flat top rib and engraved Abbiatico & Salvinelli on the left barrel. Action is coin finished with disc set strikers, single mechanical trigger and non-auto safe. Wonderful Bulino game scene with scroll and shading engraved by Master Engraver Gianfranco Pedersoli (featured on pages 222 - 223 of MODERN FIREARMS ENGRAVING by Mario Abbiatico) - left lock: hunter shooting woodcock in woods, right lock: ducks with one shot and flying through woods over water, and bottom action: shot grouse with second grouse flying through woods. Top lever with standing partridge and cast off rolled trigger guard with dog standing in the brush and strap nicely engraved with floral over stippling. Engravers name at base of trigger guard. Well figured buttstock with English straight grip and forend of European walnut and fine checkering. Semi-beavertail forend with Anson forend release and gold A&S shield. CONDITION: Very good. Shows very little use. Gun retains virtually all of its original color and finish with the exception to some light handling marks. Action is tight. Leather makers case is good some scuffing and interior shows some minor wear. Accessories, extra strikers, striker pot, springs, cleaning rod and oil bottle. CP
