Lot consists of: (A) Sea Service pistol in the style of the British Coast Guard and made without a belt hook. Manufactured without sights and with proofs comprising offset "(Crown) / TP / (Broad Arrow) / (Crown) / 7 / B / (Crown) / (Broad Arrow)" and centered "(Crown) / 7 / T P / (Broad Arrow) / (Crown) / 5". Lock engraved in center with "(Crown) / VR / Tower 1844" with perpendicular "Crown / (Broad Arrow)". Lock stepped at tail with bevelled edges and simple line engraving. Captured swivel ramrod. Raise panel opposite lock with "(Broad Arrow) / B O" and two names: "S. SUTTER" and "I. COOK". Sutter has been lined out, presumably when pistol was issued to Cook. CONDITION: Very good, barrel mixing with some brown patina but smooth. Lock and cock essentially dove grey. Brass furniture has acquired a mustard patina. Wood is very good with a live crack at rear of lock and normal bumps and bruises. Action works appropriately when operated by hand, bore is very good. (B) 1858 Pattern pistol manufactured by Pryse and Redman, and of the type issued to Indian Sepoys. Blade front sight, notch rear sight integral with tang. Offset proofs consisting of "B / 3 / B / 4 / (Crown) / T P / (Broad Arrow) / 15 / B (in script)". Raised flattened dais over breech with conjoined scepters. Lock with stamped "(Crown) / (Broad Arrow) / E I G" at tail. Center marked with "Birmingham / 1871" and "7 / B". Brass furniture with "B / 3" in front of trigger. Two cartouches at right side of wrist consisting of two "B / 3". Raised panel reverse of lock with deep cartouche for "PRYSE & REDMAN". Double banded EIG Birmingham proof, and J.C. at tail. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has plenty of blue mixing with a few minor spots of brown and some silvering at muzzle. Lock and cock retain copious amount of case colors. Wood is very good with strong cartouches and some handling and operation marks scattered about, a few deeper marks on panel reverse of lock. Action will not hold on cock and needs attention. Bore is very good, smooth throughout. EW
