Colt 1911A1 built by colt to commemorate the end of operations in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre during World War II. Standard 1911A1 features and engraved on slide with Bamboo florals, right side with "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE / PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS", left with "Pearl Harbor - Coral Sea - CORREGIDOR / GUADALCANAL - TARAWA - SAIPAN -LEYTE GULF - IWO JIMA - OKINAWA - TOKYO". Pistol is housed in case with green velvet lining, a plaque with theatre dates, December 7th, 1941 (Pearl Harbor) to September 2nd, 1945 (Formal surrender), and seven faux .45 ACP rounds in sliding drawer. Interior of lid with reprint of surrender photo and more operational areas. Still encapsulated in what appears to be the original shipping container with handwritten description of gun on exterior. CONDITION: Fine with a few minor areas of wear from handling and operation. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling. Case has two areas of tape repair at front, otherwise fine with some age related bumps and bruises. Cardboard case is very good with age related distress.
