Lot consists of (A) Starr Percussion Carbine made by Starr Arms Co. out of Yonkers, NY, circa 1862-1865. 21" .54 caliber round barrel with interesting rotating breech block. Rear sight has been removed but retains blade front sight. Barrel and right lock plate are marked "STARR ARMS CO. YONKERS NY." Marked on receiver with company name and patent date of September 14th, 1858. Plain, walnut stock with brass barrel band and brass buttplate. CONDITION: Good, with very little of the added cold blue remaining on barrel with the balance turned to a mottled brown-gray patina. Frame and lock plate have turned to a dark grey patina. Visible freckling and storage marks throughout metal parts. Wood is very good as sanded and refinished. Inspector proof is not discernible on left of stock. Brass components are fine as chemically aged. Action works correctly. Bore is fair with freckling and visible rifling. (B) Burnside 5th model percussion carbine. .54 caliber 21" round barrel with carbine rear sight and blade front. Plain walnut stock with saddle ring and rifle buttplate. CONDITION: Good as chemically aged. Stock and forearm are in very good condition with almost all of the added finish remaining. Cartouche is indiscernible on left of stock at wrist. Action works correctly. Bore is bright with significant freckling and sharp rifling. -TN-
