Lot consists of: (A) Manufactured 1823. Springfield Model 1816 flintlock rifle with 1823 dated barrel and lock. 1-piece walnut stock with bright iron hardware. Stock has 2 cartouches on left side. CONDITION: Very fine and lightly cleaned to bright with being original with replacement frizzen and spring. Wood is solid and remains full sized. Action operates properly. (B) Originally produced in 1831 and Converted by Hewes and Phillips in 1861. First model conversion with clean out screw in bolster and dated 1861. Total conversion production of 20,000 and were used extensively in the War of Northern Aggression. .69 caliber, rifled and sighted with folding 3-leaf rear sight. CONDITION: Good with mottled patina overall and remains uncleaned. Action operates properly. Stock is good and full sized with minor crack to rear of tang but remains solid. TDW
