Manufactured 1943, Winchester Model 1897 12 gauge pump shotgun with 20" barrel with "CYL." choke marking and bottom of barrel dated "42". Steel ventilated 19 hole handguard with provision for bayonet lug. Marked U.S. with Ordnance bomb on left rear side of receiver. Small Ordnance bomb on top of chamber forward of Winchester proof mark. Stock is late thick wrist variation with checkered steel Winchester buttplate. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 99% of factory blue finish on barrel and receiver with magazine having typical finish loss from pump operation. Wood stocks are exceptional with the butt having a couple of period scratches that are probably from being in a storage rack. The forearm is excellent. The bore is excellent with no issues. The action operates properly. This is one of the finest World War II issued trench shotguns we have ever seen. TDW
