A modification of the highly venerated 1911A1 design which eschewed the traditional barrel link and locking lugs in favor of a straight blowback system, these pistols were designed for ISSF centerfire matches where shooting .38 Special wadcutters was the de facto round of choice. This example shipped in 1961 to Metzgers in State College, PA, with special order flat mainspring housing. Smooth black front and rear Patridge black on black sights, standard slide legends, serrated Gold Cup trigger, slide release, left side only safety, front strap, and mainspring housing. Accompanied by an extra magazine and extra barrel and bushing with MK III legends on breech. CONDITION: Excellent, showing some light marks from handling and operation. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent, bright and shiny with sharp lands and grooves. EW
