Lot consists of: (A) New York State National Guard contract Remington Rolling Block Single-Shot Rifle with correct, 36" round barrel, military ladder rear sight, and blade front sight, chambered in .50-70 Government. Breech and hammer block feature the checkered, three point shield which is correct for this contract. Tang is marked "REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. PAT. MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL17TH 1866 AUG 27TH 1867 NOV 7TH 1871." Correct three barrel band set up with plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm with "SNY" on right of wrist for the State of New York and "RPB" for inspector Robert P. Barry. Correct butt plate. CONDITION: Very good with bluing faded to a pleasing blue-brown patina overall with handling marks throughout. Stock and forearm are very good and original with markings crisp. Numerous dents and dings from handling and use. Action locks tightly but does not work on second position safety notch. Bore is frosted with good rifling and some freckling. (B) Remington Rolling Block Carbine with 20" round barrel, carbine rear sight, blade front, and saddle ring. Chambered for an unknown .52 caliber rimfire cartridge. Plain, straight walnut stock and forearm with carbine butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent as refinished, retaining 90-95% of its blued finish on metal parts with minor handling marks. Stock and forearm are excellent with almost all of the reapplied finish remaining. Action works correctly and locks tightly. Bore is bright with sharp lands and grooves. -TN-
