1942 vintage Deluxe Model 71 serial number 21322. Unusual gun being it has a "short" tang typically associated with postwar guns. Possibly a "transition" from left over Model 1886 receivers to Model 71 specific receivers? Blue with pistol grip straight grain checkered walnut stock and forearm. Bolt mounted adjustable rear sight and standard ramp with hood & blade front sight. Rear sight provision is plugged. CONDITION: Excellent plus with 98% original bright blue. Upon first observation, the bluing on this gun had the appearance of being refinished, after very close examination under magnification we believe it to be factory original. Wood has finish added along with chips on corners where the stock meets the frame. One very slight superficial crack in the wood at the top tang. Bore is excellent and bright. Action is tight and crisp. A very interesting rifle. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. -MKS-
