This is an exceptionally more ornate example than is typically encountered. The tapered straight diamond-section blade has a polished surface. The silver-mounted handle has a pillow pommel and fluted ferrules surrounded the checkered ivory grip. The silver guard features double-lines engraved around the perimeter and a series of pendants. The silver scabbard is decorated with floral and foliate motifs with an engraved oval stud near the top. CONDITION: Silver retains areas of dark patina. Some minor dents. Ivory grip retains a pleasing honey patina with minor crack on both sides. Blade polished bright, some minor areas of pitting. A very attractive American dirk.
