Manufactured by DWM in the last year of the Great War. Receiver is marked "1918" over the chamber with DWM proofs on the right side. Toggle bears the DWM monogram. Nine position range rear sight with graduations from one hundred to eight hundred meters. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger, trigger sideplate, locking bolt, safety, receiver, trigger bar, barrel, and rear sight. Hold-open latch is possibly restamped. Grips are unmarked and magazine serial number has been scrubbed. Complete with original period holster and flat board shoulder stock. CONDITION: Metal components retain generous amounts of arsenal applied bluing, showing thinning to the grip straps as well as on concentrated areas of the frame with small areas of patina showing through. Strawed components retain some finish, showing wear and thinning all around. Bore is bright, showing small cleaned areas of pitting and retains strong rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips show smoothing and areas of loss to varnish. Holster is in good condition, showing typical signs of aging and internal wear from use, with the manufacturer's stamping being illegible. Flat board shoulder stock no longer retains its stock iron and shows scattered marks from use and wear to varnish all around, but retains its crown over "S" proof on the left side. A very nice artillery Luger that was manufactured in the closing year of the Great War. PROVENANCE: From the Carl Balderson Jr. Estate Collection. MW
