First year of production Winchester Model 1876, serial number 1221. This rifle has all the features of an early Model 76 including the "thumbprint" dust cover and the large rounded "hump" hammer. 28" octagon barrel with full length magazine tube. Chambered in .45-75. Standard blade front and fold down carbine style rear barrel sight. Straight grip, select grain deluxe stock and forearm checkered in Winchester "H" pattern. Rifle style crescent buttplate. Set trigger. Blue with case hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. CONDITION: Fine overall. Barrel and magazine tube are a grey/brown patina with scattered areas of moderate corrosion. Frame is mostly a silver/brown patina with traces of case hardening turned a silver color. Wood is refinished with areas of chipping around the top tang and gouges on the stock comb. Bore is dark. Action is tight and crisp however, hammer will not stay at full cock. -MKS-
