Colt Single Action Army Revolver, serial number 253531, manufactured in 1904. 5 - 1/2" barrel, chambered in .45 LC cartridge. Blue with case hardened frame, and hammer. Two line patent date on frame with Rampant Colt in circle. Factory engraved in typical Cuno Helfricht tradition featuring classic scrolls with a punch dot background. Floral fan engraved on recoil shield, loading gate, and top of backstrap. Beautiful, mellow ivory two piece grips. Colt factory archival letter dated June 28, 2000, signed by Kathleen Hoyt, Colt Historian accompanies revolver. Letter documents Colt Single Action Army serial number 253531, has having a 5 - 1/2" barrel, caliber .45/c, blue finish, ivory grips, factory engraving, and shipped to Charles Hummel & Son, San Antonio, Texas, in a single gun shipment on March 26, 1904. CONDITION: Excellent overall with traces of original blue on barrel. Traces of original case color on frame. Cylinder shows approximately 50% thinning blue. Overall revolver is a clean, very pleasing grey/blue patina. Original unmolested screws. Grips are excellent, turning a lovely honey color patina showing modest wear. Six notches are cut in a row, along the right side at the butt. Action is tight and very crisp. Bore is excellent and bright. Overall a very attractive and honest, factory engraved, Texas shipped, first generation Colt Single Action. -MKS-
