The Lincoln pattern Deringer pistol, made famous by John Wilkes Booth during the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln has always been a desired addition to any American arms collection. Measuring 5 - 13/16" overall,and being of .41 caliber and of percussion ignition. For photos of a nearly identical pistol, used to kill Abraham Lincoln, see pages 36-37 in Volume I of "The Deringer in America: The Percussion Period" by R.L. Wilson and L.D. Eberhart. Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, using a pistol of this size and make, on April 14, 1865 while at Ford's Theater. Pistol features a rounded rifled steel barrel with top flat, patent breech inlaid with two German silver bands and marked "DERINGER/PHILADELA". Diminutive sights. Back action percussion lock engraved with scrolls and stamped "DERINGER/PHILADELA". Walnut stock of familiar form with engraved German silver furniture and checkered panels around grip. CONDITION: Good, barrel and lock have turned and even silver patina. Stock has crack at butt a minor crack at toe. Checkering shows some wear. Mounts are fine with left wedge escutcheon missing. Action operates properly. Bore is dark with visible rifling. TDW
