Lot consists of 5 American fraternal swords, all with straight blades, 3 with scabbards and gold washed blades, circa 1875-1910. A) Gold painted cruciform hilt with eagle crouched on pommel and knuckleguard chain. CONDITION: Good. No scabbard. Dark blade. B) Foliate cruciform guard, tent pommel cap, bone grip, chain guard. GUOOF motif on quillon block. CONDITION: Good. Narrow hairlines to grip, but stable. Dark blade, but remnants of gilt on brass hilt. C) A pretty GUOOF sword with tent pommel, chain guard, gilt hilt and scabbard with figural mounts and engraving. Blade with nice etching and gold wash, "Thomas W. Williams" in central blade cartouche. CONDITION: Excellent. D) Open cruciform guard with knights helmet pommel. Very nice bright blade with good etching and gold wash. "W.H. Sheffer" etched on central panel with WHS monogram on white bone grip. Maltese cross on blade in gilt and on scabbard drag. CONDITION: Very Good. Blade is exceptionally nice. Steel Scabbard rates good, with age toning and some losses to red paint of cross on top mount. Hilt shows wear to silver wash showing areas of of brass with age patina. E) Knightshead pommel with open visor. Leather wrapped grip with gold colored binding. Chain guard to figural quillons. Blade has good guilt wash and etching with name "W.F. Everett" on central panel. CONDITION: Sword rates good. Minor graying to blade near tip. Wear to surface of leather grip and some rubbing and age toning to silver colored hilt. Steel scabbard rates poor with rust coming up under plating and age toning to figural brass mounts. SR
