(A) The steel blade of the late war Shin-Gunto is machine manufactured and appears to have been heavily polished at one time. The blade shows irregularities along the length of the blade, and is no longer sharpened. A heavy patina is seen throughout the fittings. The grip is wrapped with a coarse cord, and the wrapped emblem has brass verdigris. The scabbard appears to have been heavily polished removing the green paint. CONDITION: Good. (B) The blade of the Japanese Kyu-Gunto is nickel plated, with some of the plating beginning to flake near the guard area, and scattered light marks throughout. The guard and hilt are made of gilded brass, with much of the gilding worn off. The ray skin wrapped grip is decorated with a bullion wire and shows light patina throughout. The leather scabbard has scattered light marks throughout and the gilded brass fittings have a light patina. CONDITION: Very Good to Excellent. (C) The blade of the Japanese Police Sword is made of a nickel plated steel. A light consistent graying can be seen along the blade. The brass guard and hilt show show moderate wear with scattered light marks throughout. The leather wrapped grip has heavy wear with flaking to the leather. The nickel plate scabbard has scattered superficial marks throughout. CONDITION: Overall Very Good. D.W.
