Fine antique Charles Daly Diamond Quality gun with stunning four iron Legia pattern Damascus barrels that measure 28" with matted top rib and steel front bead. Top rib legend "CHARLES DALY EXTRA FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS DIAMOND QUALITY". Elongated splinter forend with engraved Deeley release and checkered in point and wave pattern with fine horn tip. Made with double triggers, auto ejectors, and auto safety. The scalloped action boxlock receiver has cocking indicators on tops and is near full coverage engraved with scroll and ribbon pattern on sides, game scenes on bottom and trigger guard. The sides of the action are engraved in a beautiful ribbon "Charles Daly Thuringia". Bottom of action is engraved with quail at front, and well executed deer scene on trigger plate surrounded by tight scroll engraving. Top tang with scroll engraving and "SAFE" in gold, blued and scroll engraved top lever. Trigger guard is engraved with fox carrying a fallen goose in his mouth with scroll on bow and serial number at tang. Capped pistol grip buttstock is an expert quality replacement with fine two point checkering through the wrist and checkered side panels with and terminates with what is likely its original checkered horn buttplate and has original engraved screws. The grip treatment is a perfect horn insert for this gun and the quality of the restock work is superb. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain about 90% of their fine pattern. Receiver retains about 40% of its original color. Forend retains nearly all of a professional restored finish, with buttstock retaining nearly all of its custom finishes with only very light handling marks. Bores are mostly bright and shiny, mechanics are crisp and the gun is tight as a tick! These are extremely well made guns and this gun is a gem for hand fit and finish work. JSL
