Manufactured in Belgium by Toussaint Joseph Ljoist. 8mm smoothbore percussion revolver believed to be a Brevette of the Paterson Colt of the period. Totally remaining in the white and believed to have been a "PATENT" model. Single action operation with a 6" octagon barrel with single wedge retainer. Maker marked internally on right grip strap "T.JHOIST". All metal components remain in the white and never finished. Frame backstrap and trigger guard are engraved in a broad scroll pattern with chase borders on backstrap and guard. Cylinder and barrel are Liege Belgian proofed. Grips are of smooth oil finished walnut with single retaining screw with oblong escutcheons. CONDITION: Very fine as found remaining in the white but finely scroll embellished. Grips are excellent and bore is good. Action operates however is slightly out of time. A unique example of firearms development from the 1840's period. TDW
