Manufactured 1917. Colt 1911 .45 automatic pistol with original deep factory furnace blue finish and mounted with a prime pair of original Colt Diamond pattern Type 1 walnut grips. US martially inspected GHS in circle (Gilbert H Stewart). Marked on left side of slide "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Right side of slide has traditional 2 line Colt address with Rampant Colt at rear of slide. Frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side and "No 163970". Barrel is blue finished with "P" over "H" horizontally over chamber (Colt type 4). Flat mainspring housing with lanyard stud. Short grip safety and long wide checkered hammer with border on checkering. Long smooth trigger. Good two tone military Colt magazine. CONDITION: Very fine with excellent bore and over 90% original blue finish with losses at front strap and edges from light use. The action operates properly. The grips are very fine with sharp checkering and no distress. A wonderful example of the Colt 1911 that is over 100 years old. TDW
