Manufactured 1944. Remington Rand 1911-A1 with US Inspection FJA (Frank J Atwood). 5" "HS" High Standard marked barrel. Checkered plastic grips Left is a reinforced period Coltwood grip and right is a reinforced Keyes Manufacturing grip. Slide has the small Remington Rand Syracuse NY marking on left side of slide with "P" proof horizontally stamped forward of the rear sight. Frame has small Ordnance wheel inspection at rear and is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "NO 1994686" and "M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY". Trigger is short checkered sheet metal variation, while hammer is proper narrow serrated hammer with grooved arched mainspring housing. Magazine is all blue and is marked "L" on upper lip for M.S. Little Manufacturing. CONDITION: Very good with over 95% of the original parkerized finish remaining on slide and frame and slight high point finish wear. Grips are very fine with no distress. The barrel is very good with slight wear to finish on top of chamber from use. Bore is exceptional. A very fine late war pistol. TDW
